Lofoten is a world class destination for mountain walkers
The tiny archipelago of Lofoten on the North-western coast of Norway is a relatively unexplored trek destination. The peaks and ridges of Lofoten offer world class opportunities for mountain walking. The first glimpses of the emerald green ocean beneath the mountain peaks will leave you awestruck. Furthermore everything is illuminated by the warm midnight sun. Up here in the North the water is never really warm, but after a long day of mountain walking you will welcome the cooling effect of the water.
Local contacts and three seasons’ experience form the basis of the tour programme. I have drawn up the schedule with the finest peaks in mind. During the week we will stay in a comfortable cottage (Rorbu) in the village of Nusfjord, a beautiful bay with a picturesque, old fishing village. From our base we will be able to reach the tours that last 6-8 hours. We will restrict our gear and equipment to the essentials (rainwear, a change of clothes and a packed lunch) and in the evening relax and dine out in an excellent restaurant.
The walks on Lofoten are demanding and feature many steep ascents and frequently non-existent trails. However, the rewards of our efforts are the astounding views of the Atlantic Ocean and the peaks of Lofoten. In order to enjoy Lofoten, it is important that you have previous experience of mountain walking.
