Lake Saimaa at its most beautiful in Linnansaari National Park
One of the most beautiful locations among the freshwaters lakes of Finland is Linnansaari National Park with its hundreds of islands and islets.
We will be gliding in our kayaks through a unique milieu, which is home to the Saimaa Ringed Seal and the rare White-backed Woodpecker. Linnansaari also boasts the densest Finnish population of Osprey, one of the largest birds of prey in the country. We will move carefully in their habitat and with a bit of luck we might catch a glimpse of these ornithological wonders.
Burn-beating was practiced for a long time on Linnansaari island. Deciduous trees are therefore predominant during the autumn and provide a highly colourful pageant. We will also have time to visit the old gameskeeper’s cottage and admire the lands which are still maintained in the traditional manner.
We will paddle in a calm tempo so anyone with previous experience of kayaking is welcome to join the tour.
